Something is picking up /usr/sbin/install (which behaves differently to the
BSD and GNU versions of install).

Many packages now are smart enough to autodetect, but not all.

You'll need to help it find the gnu install. A couple of ways are:

- 'make install INSTALL=ginstall'

- ensuring /usr/gnu/bin is at the front of the path
