Yeah, I've had the same problem.  I posted to the mailing list about it
on August 2, 2017.  There was some discussion about it possibly being
related to automatic power management, but despite disabling power
management for my USB ports, I never was able to resolve the problem.
It's very intermittent, and I've learned enough of the keyboard shortcuts
to close down most applications and get my workstation rebooted using just
the keyboard shortcuts.

That's a separate issue that started in the last 18 months.  Gary Mills
has tracked it down to an issue between glib and HAL, I believe, and
David Stes has posted info to the mailing list about restarting services
to get devices discovered.


Two separate issues, but together they become extra annoying.
