Now ALSA library is a hard requirement for sound support on Unix-like platforms of some applications. They are first developed on Linux and as ALSA library has been ported to many other Unix-like OSes as well, they just set ALSA library as a hard requirement. Of course a skillful developer could patch the code to use the platform specific facility. But I'm not one of them and ALSA library is the last piece to be able to build the software on OI. Please help.

All rubbish aside. It's *not* that nobody cares. In fact, if I could set an
hours
time aside. I could get the alsalib packaged for IO. So now that it's
available
and installed. You'll ask; why doesn't my application work? It uses Alsa and
I
installed alsalib. But it's still not working -- translation; I have to
familiarize
myself with your favorite applications and set aside an hours time for each
of them
and change/add to them the ability to use alsalib.

IOW it looks easy from the outside-in. But not so, from the inside-out. Make
no
mistake; your request has merit. It's just going to take someone, or several
people with the necessary time, to make the changes necessary to incorporate
Alsa.
