[OpenIndiana-discuss] ZFS tolerance

Hi All,

I am doing a small idiotic project, putting together odds and sods of
hard drives to make a RAID set. You know the kind of thing, the hard
drives that are remnants of old projects but you don't want to throw
them out because... well... they work!

So I was wondering that in a pile of hard drives, 5400 to 7200 RPM,
green and red drives than spin down and up again, and blue/black drives
that keep running....

Just how much tolerance does ZFS have regarding the timings of using
different devices? Particularly when under sustained transfer to the
server.

My target will be RAID 0+1 with partitions on larger drives, to pair
against smaller drives.

Grateful for any thoughts/information please.
