the process is not running because of zone reboot:

# ps ax|grep post
  28813 pts/3    S  0:00 grep post
# netstat -a -P tcp|grep smtp
#

I am not shure how the start of "/usr/sbin/postfix start" within the 
service should find a process, there is no process and no other listener 
on the port...

Manual start/stop works as expected..

# postfix start
postfix/postfix-script: starting the Postfix mail system
# netstat -a -P tcp|grep smtp
       *.smtp               *.*                 0      0 128000      0 
LISTEN
