Hi,

The default MATE Desktop Environment installation switched from
XScreenSaver to mate-screensaver. This constitutes a flag day if your
system is running with the mate_install package installed. If you do
not have the mate_install package installed this is just heads-up for
you. If you do not have the XScreenSaver installed then you can simply
ignore this message.

Please read below if you want to keep XScreenSaver.

* How to SWITCH from XScreenSaver to mate-screensaver if you DO HAVE the
  mate_install package installed?

Once you update to recent bits you'll end up with both XScreenSaver and
mate-screensaver installed. You very likely do not want that and it is
recommended to uninstall XScreenSaver using:

	sudo pkg uninstall -v 'desktop/xscreensaver*'

* How to SWITCH from XScreenSaver to mate-screensaver if you DO NOT HAVE
  the mate_install package installed?

In this case you should do the switch manually using:

	sudo pkg uninstall -v 'desktop/xscreensaver*'
	sudo pkg install -v desktop/mate/mate-screensaver

* How to KEEP XScreenSaver (and do NOT SWITCH to mate-screensaver) if
you DO HAVE the mate_install package installed?

Since mate_install package constitutes the default MATE Desktop
Environment installation it is not possible to avoid installation of
mate-screensaver when there is mate_install installed. If you want to
avoid mate-screensaver and keep XScreenSaver you need to uninstall the
mate_install package.

* How to KEEP XScreenSaver (and do NOT SWITCH to mate-screensaver) if
you DO NOT HAVE the mate_install package installed?

You do not need to do anything special :-).

* Why we did the switch from XScreenSaver to mate-screensaver?

Please read the rationale here:

Regards.
