I shall be most interested in the resolution, but I strongly expect going to sleep is why the drives are gone.

I suggest that you make your script block on "/bin/ls <dir>" to give NFS time to finish the setup which should remount the drives. There is *NO* guarantee the device will be the same.

I hate it, but it's what OI does.

this Orico enclosure is usual to put the bays to a kind of sleep from where is able recover on request (asking
any operation on the disk), I doubt this can matter with the problem.
