Hello there and thank you for your efforts with openindiana.
-
I would like to mention USB automount support with MATE.
Bug #13711
Bug #16418

LImited testing here by Inserting a few various usb devices (usb flash
drive mediums) with various filesystems, formatting, etc. A usb
containing a bootable image of GhostBSD does in fact allow automount
with Caja. Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), errors are displayed when
unmounting and sometimes when mounting via Caja.

I am not an advanced user. I recently installed openindiana for the
first time on an i7 (with 4 GB physical memory) and then moved the drive
to i5 (with 8GB physical memory). There were problems caused by swap
size,  which was low 2GB size, ($ pfexec pkg update --refresh) and ($
pfexec pkg update) would cause problems. I received excellent help
discussing this by the way. If the openindiana handbook could contain an
additional note on this in the 'System Requirements note section' it may
help some have a better running initial experience. Something like:
Consider to set swap size to 8GB if possible on low physical memory
machines.

There is more I wish to say on painpoints but for now above is a good
start. Now I actually have looked at the bugs reporting a bit and setup
a login credential.

-Thanks
