Josef - all of the tools mentioned like hg, git, svn, cvs, and even wget are available for oi_151a development to pull tarballs or clone repos for software packaging. We can fetch any publically available open source software from anywhere the Internet is accessible!

Not all software is conveniently tarred up on the internet.  Allow fetching of a specific rev from these VCSes.
