Issue #1304 has been updated by Josef Sipek.


I think you misunderstood.  oi-build knows how to fetch tarballs over http and ftp.  Some projects, for example my window manager of choice (Notion) never uploaded a tarball.  It would be great if oi-build makefiles could fetch a revision of the upstream project from their VCS repo.

Not all software is conveniently tarred up on the internet.  Allow fetching of a specific rev from these VCSes.
