In that case you should be OK with an upgrade to OI.

It's not like there's any risk - the upgrade creates a new BE, you boot
into it and test. If it works, yay! If not, boot back into the old BE.

They shouldn't take up reams of disk space - keeping your current BE
around for a few months until SX11 drops can't have that much of an
impact. I've still got 2008.11 BEs which I occasionally use for some stuff.
