[OpenIndiana-discuss] No access to pkg manager on new install - user error?

After just installing from a 151a7 iso into a vbox guest on win 7, I'm
totally impressed to have an absolutely problem free install. You
devs have been busy and doing a terrific job.... thank you.

There are a few little things that come up now that the install is
over.
I'm not able to access the packagemanager in what appears to be the
intended way.

On the newly installed desktop I see a few apps/icons already inserted into
the menu bar across the top.

Applicaitons places System [home] [firefox] [pkgmnger] [terminal]

I see:
   "MYUSER:::::roles=root"
At the end of /etc/user_attr....
So I'm assuming my user should be able to click on the pkgmanager and
run it. And as expected when clicked it produces a dialog to give
root passwd, but when I do that and click ok, the package manager
never comes up.

Fortuneately for me, the root passwd dialog shows the cmdline to run
the packmanager so a:

  sudo /usr/bin/packagemanager --allow-links

Will start it up.
