It is not true at all,
but since this mail is intended to proove your point, recursively, it is

There is also oi-dev mailing list for technical and development talk and 
questions,
openindiana-discuss is.. main list for general talk.

I think that having your own mail server/domain these days it dirty 
cheap and everyone should have one :D

I use Gmail/Thunderbird because of lazyness and i can say that Gmail is 
not by any mean perfect.
I use it with Thunderbird with IMAP and Gmail eats my bounced messages 
off the list, so that every time I send a message, I need to copy my 
ownd sent message to list dir, so that it is current.

Sooner or later i will migrate to my own server somewhere so if you 
want, you can jump in if wanting to make one that we and possibly others 
can share..

Firefox always had some issues with memory leaks on all platforms it is 
not OI speciality I think.
FF works OK on my OI hipster desktop (43.b7), yet it have issues when 
closing down. So everything works beside that.

OI will never become what you intend it to become, not it should, if you 
don't use it, contribute and continue to hang around. There are no 
crystal balls, but every comment helps.

No one asks it form you but whatever.
Making Gmail account , subscribing to OI's 2 lists and setting up mail 
filters could be the solution if you just want webmail client. (or use 
Thunderbird too)

Anyway, make a new mail and don't make a fuss about it and come back :)
