The system default is 4.9 at the moment. You can check this with "pkg 
mediator". This should give you a line "gcc    vendor    4.9".
This is the compiler that is sym-linked to /usr/bin. Packages that need 
another version explicitly reference it (e.g. mongodb-3.3).
