It is very likely that you both have been hit by 7797 as Till already 
mentioned.
svm has been removed from illumos (and thus from OpenIndiana) a couple 
of weeks ago.
Alas the automatic cleanup of services didn't work under some 
circumstances and so
it could happen that the metainit service (which belongs to svm) is 
still trying to start.
You will have to manually remove the remnents of it by issuing
     svccfg delete metainit
After that it may also be necessary to run
     svcadm clear metainit
