I changed the source from 'https' to 'http'.  Now the download worked!!
Really appreciate your help on this since this has bothered me for a while.

SSL Error 35 points to a timeout in the Python HTTP Downloader.

Otherwise it could be that your clients SSL(NSS) is too old. Which would 
be a problem for all hipster-2015 users.

Can you try via HTTP only. Without HTTPS?
