Particular versions of the X/Open Portability Guide (XPG).  When
functionality mandated by that standard differed from long-time Solaris
behavior, Sun would ship an alternate version of the command or library,
installed in the alternate location /usr/xpg4 or /usr/xpg6.

PS: if you're receiving the digest as a text digest, try switching to
using a MIME digest.  With a MIME digest, many email clients will allow
you to select an individual message within the digest and respond to just
that.  That also preserves the Subject, etc.
