Please see below.

Yep, that would be the classic.

I'm not either, but being able to change a bunch of stuff was why I got
it (also, because the left-handed version feels comfortable, and the
side buttons moved to the right side, so they stayed under the thumb).

The Synapse software is fairly useful. I already had it installed
because I bought a Battlefield 4 keyboard for the solid mechanical keys.
The squishy ones didn't give me the feedback I need to know when my
tremours cause a double hit.
In the Synapse manual, you're wanting to click on the Customization tab,
and select the button you want to assign this functionality to. Change
the function to "Sensitivity", and follow the text on Page 12. I'm
guessing you may want "On-The-Fly Sensitivity", about half-way down the
page.
Of course, Synapse doesn't run under the OI host OS, but then the
Deathadder works just like a normal mouse. I've had no problems with it
under Open Indiana (nor the various Linuxes I've used it on, for that
matter).
I'm finding that moving to the Razer mouse has been very worthwhile, and
it's already lasted longer than the Microsnot or Logitech mice I was
using before. They kept going belly up on me, and I'm not hard on my
equipment at all. I'm not going to be looking back.
