Heh. All my other stuff has NVIDIA/AMD. This is my only Intel rig.
Good advice! I'll spin up a text install, and see if it doesn't behave
better.

On an aside. My attempts to investigate this on my own indicates:

Intel KMS driver - OpenIndiana - OpenIndiana Wiki
(https://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/Intel+KMS+driver)
and
Mesa - OpenIndiana - OpenIndiana Wiki
(https://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/Mesa)

both return 503 (HTTP error). Are the servers down?
