That makes sense, if only for the ignoring of the config file I made at
Alan's suggestion (but also for other reasons).

Oh, I'm well aware of that. But it certainly _won't_ work if it isn't
even using the right driver.

Or if additional work will be required. That additional work being porting kernel bits from FreeBSD or other sources (our original driver is from linux)
Would this be what you need?
name='vendor-name' type=string items=1
                     value='Intel Corporation'
                 name='device-name' type=string items=1
                     value='HD Graphics 620'
                 name='subsystem-name' type=string items=1
                     value='unknown subsystem'
             Device Minor Nodes:
                 dev=(249,0)
                     dev_path=/pci at 0,0/display at 2:text-0
                         spectype=chr type=minor
                         dev_link=/dev/fbs/text-0
                         dev_link=/dev/fb0
                         dev_link=/dev/vt00
                         dev_link=/dev/fb

Hmm. I've always assumed that this system was AMD-based, because that is
what WinDoze always implied way back when... But maybe not.

I've never used this, and only now installed the package (and its
dependencies, etc.) Is this what you are wanting to see?
(Controller)Intel Corporation HD Graphics
620:DEVID=0x5916:CLASS=00030000:[0,2,0]:vgatext:0:Attached:VENDOR=0x8086
